"It's the final countdown to the holidays, and the release of Midnight Sands. Midnight Sands underwent a slight delay through the loss of a copy editor, but a fellow author friend sent me to one of her editors, and it's underway again. Aiming for an early Feb release at the moment. I am still gathering ARC readers if you are interested a reading an advanced copy and leaving a review. I'm trying to sketch up more of the characters and world of Nightvision in prepared for Midnight Sand's release and eventually an illustrated box set once the full trilogy exists. I finally have a visual concept of Nakai's dyre shift. I'm anxious to finish it out and ink it one of these days. Juggling work, writing, drawing, and life in general doesn't always happen, but I try to take it one step at a time. Nightvision got called out in a blog this morning, with a review to be shared there later. Check it out! http://www.mkrmauthor.com/robin_takes_the_scenic_route/milestones-a-new-book Every one of these gets collected in my happy place and spurs me forward through the niggling doubts. Somedays are easier than others. Today has been a good one, the main difference being the acknowledgements, from MK, and even a Christmas gift from one of my clients; I've worked with them for approx. six years but there's still days I wonder about my day job and if I'm appreciated for what I do, so a simple "thank you" honestly makes my world a better place. My word of advice for the season "Don't assume someone knows. Tell them. Even if they do know, it's nice to have it confirmed." Appreciation, love, friendship, tell them. I appreciate everyone who follows my work, thank you for enjoying it. I wish you a Merry Christmas, and happy whatever holiday you celebrate( There's a few to choose from around). C. H. Knyght

I did call this page intermittent blather for a reason... blogging is not my strong suit. I get lost in work and writing my next story. But, I do try to drop updates when I remember, or have something to say. I'm a bit more regular on fb, instgram, and twitter, pintrest is a whirlpool i get sucked into too. Anyway, Nightvision Midnight Sands, is on approach, slow but sure. I am expecting it back from the last round of edits any hour now. After that it's down to proof reads. I'm thinking perhaps a Jan release. I'll set a date once it's been returned to my hands. I've got two shorties floating out in the wind awaiting judgement. One to the OfWords series, teammates to the AHOW anthology I was previously published in. And another to Audient Void. *Fingerscrossed* There's a steampunk tale in progress, it hasn't decided if it's one chunky book or going to need split yet. And I'm eyeing a couple of story contests for entry if I can pull of getting something polished in time. So busy days. Not counting the holidays, which include about five birthdays in short order, counting my own (I'm gonna be thirty, have not acclimated to the idea yet.) I pray for a peaceful month and New year for everyone. Steampunk fantasy: Nano18
Chapter one. Annora patted the tightly wound bun on the back of her head. It’d taken twenty some bobby pins to secure the thick braid of her mousy hair. Maybe she should have used more. But if she’d lingered in front of her mirror any longer, she would have been late. She crossed her fingers that it wouldn’t come loose. Messy hair would make a bad impression on her captain. As only the third woman to join the NavelAir, she could not present any weaknesses or failures. Female military, outside of secretary work, was a tentative thing, and many of the old admirals watch with eagle-eyes for any excuse to shut down the female recruitment. She checked her pocket watch, two minutes to the top of the hour. No more time to dither. Snapping her watch shut, she dropped it to hang from her belt. Nora squared her shoulders and stepped out of the alley in a confident march. Her boots clacked a sharp rhythm over the boardwalk. The Glorious Star, bobbed against her moorings as the air currents tugged at her. The airship was a corvette class sloop, certainly not the largest in the skies, but large, and armed, enough, that few would choose to confront her. Glorious was a patrol ship. She followed the ether currents, protecting the harvester ships, and now, it was Nora’s ship. White, foresails unfurled with the snap of fabric as the breeze caught and filled them in a concave. Nora counted her steps to keep from stopping and tipping her head back to stare up at the towering masts and sails like an awestruck child. One, two, three, four, five. The sounds her boots made changed, going hollow as she stepped up onto the gangplank. Nerves butterflied in her stomach. Finally, she had a ship, she was going to fly. Someone met her at the top of the gangplank. “Private Armitage.” She snapped to a salute. “Yes, sir!” The ribbons hanging from the single leather spaulder over his shoulder marked the man as first mate. Crowfeet creased his skin as he looked her up and down, obviously searching for an error in her uniform. His neat mustache covered his lips as they thinned. “At ease,” he said, returning her salute with a curt gesture. The butterflies in her stomach died, growing heavy and cold. Shit. The firstmate didn’t want a female on his ship. Did that mean Captain Gryffith had chosen her against his advice? Her presence would put the leaders of the ship at odds. Her first tour was off to a brilliant start. She fell into a loose stance, clasping her wrist at the small of her back. She kept her shin steadfastly level as she stared at his ear. He wasn’t the first that thought she should be confined to the ground, and he wouldn’t be the last, but neither would she, she was here to continue the example set by the precious few women preceding her to the skies. “Private Smithy!” A smooth faced boy scurried over and saluted as he came to a smart stop. “Yes, sir?” “Take Private Armitage to quarters. You’re bunking with the boys.” He cast a barely hidden sneer. “Hope you weren’t planning on a private cabin. That’s a captain’s privilege.” “Yes, sir.” Nora saluted and held it, waiting for permission. “Dismissed. She bobbed her head and followed the boy. She felt like an old lady compared to Smithy. It’d taken her a couple years to prove her determination and wear down the superiors required to let her fly. Captain Keeves had been her greatest supporter, and sponsored her before the admirals. A captain who hated heights, he’d been content to make captain, and then claim the ground offices as his ship, and he ran a tight one. He expected everyone to step up and do their shit. He didn’t care if you were male, female, eunuch, or a monkey, as long as you did your duties to the best of your ability. I have a surprise for you all! (Unless you're a newsletter subscriber, then not so much. XD )
I finished an illustration of The Mother Tree, from the Nightvision trilogy. 20x26, mechanical pencil. It's a big piece and took me way longer than I thought it would. I hope to do an inked version soon. i love these books for writing reference. I only had three until I was handed a delayed birthday present, containing the three books I didn’t have. I have a full set! 😍😍😍 Now, i just need to start a new book so I can use my new building blocks.
e has been a little insane lately (to say the least) but discounting a few crash days, I am still plugging away at Dawn's Blessing. I'm going to try and do more than a couple hundred a day, nevertheless every new word is a step closer to the conclusion. Am using this draft as my focus for playing in the new Writer's Workout game 'Writer's Arcade'. I haven't gotten too far in the ranks yet, but every word climbs me higher. www.writersworkout.net/

They might be fantasy, scifi or paranormal, I will strive to bring you books that are free or on sale to check out and possible add to your reading library. You can find the list through the link below! Please enjoy! And Happy New Year!
I just wanted to throw out a quick reminder that Nightvision will be free for download from Amazon Jan. 1st and 2nd. Last one for the season! Get it here!
As for progress updates, I'm still inch-worming my way through the first draft of "Dawn's Blessing" With the lack of pressure from NaNoWriMo and the holidays, I've slowed down from a couple thousand words a day to a couple hundred, but I am still going. Doing my best to write on it every single day. For a Christmas gift to my followers, I am making Nightvision Twilight Shadows free for kindle download on Dec. 25-26th and Jan 1-2.I hope you all have a blessed holiday season, whatever your celebrations, that your days are filled with
magic, peace, family and friends. Today, I decided to experiment and adjusted the pricing on the paperback copy of Nightvision Twilight Shadows. It is now $10.99 on Amazon, and $9.99 in my storenvy shop, where you can get it signed!
