make for a great excuse to stay inside and read. It’s been raining here for three days now. Which we needed, but it’s squishy and cold outside. The heroic steeds are dumb and choosing to stand out in the shower instead of going into the open barn. I’m thinking about adding a rolling gate to the run-in so I can lock them in on days like this. Any of your furballs like the rain more than they should?
Working on more sketches of Nightvision. Only a few more chapters of Dawn’s Sacrifice to get laid out and then I need to see about polishing them up for print. Some are pretty sketchy and I haven’t decided if I’m going to leave them or clean them up yet. What stage of art do you like? Raw or polished?

Hey, Adventurers
I have some Nightvision sketches to display while I’m inching through the other wips. Progress is being made, big projects take time and I have like five ongoing. Hahaha. ;) I’ll be good, and keep it short, and go back to writing. What’s your favorite elemental? Here’s some reads to check out. https://books.bookfunnel.com/sopera52020/ktumoxleta *cracks knuckles*
Right, so a bunch of people in the know are asking for an eligibility reading list for F&SF 2020 published works. So... Here’s what I published this year. Not too shabby considering. Short story Steampunk fantasy ‘Watchbird’ in CLOCKWORK DRAGONS: A Fantasypunk Anthology https://smile.amazon.com/dp/1925985059 Novelette Post Apocalyptic ‘Humanity’s Descent’ in AND MAN GREW PROUD: Eight Dystopian Novelettes https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0858J91BQ Novel Fantasy ‘Dawn’s Sacrifice’ Book Three of the Nightvision Trilogy https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B087B4XKCN Non-Fiction as INKmagine and Create Character Development Workbook: Pocket Edition: Characters on the Go https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08NRZGB6Z Unicorns and Dragons: Plus Their Cousins (INKmagine and Create Coloring) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08P8SJBBN Coming 2021 Short ‘To Prey’ through Wyldblood Other pieces in the works, but currently unconfirmed. Are you ready? I am!
The totally new and improved covers have been uploaded! They make me happy. I’m so proud of them. That’s it. That’s the whole post. ;) Keeping it simple today! Go check them out and tell me what you think! So, in my recent newsletter, I promised to share some illustrations here, rather than overloading inboxes. They need some work yet, these are mostly just me getting the idea down on paper. I haven't settled on how rendered I'm going to get for the final edition yet. I have a thing for raw sketches, but I'm not sure they are finished enough to be worthy of the published book, but time issues too...I'm waffling. There's a sneak peek at the new covers too! I'm so proud of these covers, I am having a hard time sitting on them. Any guesses at who and what the illustrations are? Guess what snuck out over the weekend?
Dawn's Sacrifice! A ravenous world-eater. A powerless prince. A battle of magic and elementals. Now isn’t the time for love or fear. The editions don't appear to have combined yet so here's links to them both. Kindle https://amzn.to/2RTR4hx Paperback https://amzn.to/3auhGvZ I'm not, but my work is semi-quarantined doing in home cares, so as long as no one directly in my circle gets it then life continues as normal besides limited shopping. However, I understand that many of you are restricted from work, school is out, and you might be going stir-crazy. In that respect, I have put both available Nightvisions on Smashwords. You can download and read them for free HERE or choose a comfortable price. As an artist, I also have printable coloring pages available on Etsy, and have marked them down 40%, for cheap coloring entertainment that you don't have to leave the house to buy. Other great authors are offering free reads and discounts too! HERE is a grouping Jasmine Walt has put together.
I hope you all stay safe and healthy. C. H. Knyght I was so busy with edits on Dawn's Sacrifice, I forgot that And Man Grew Proud launched. And then, horror of horror, ice fell off the roof and crushed our phone lines on Fri, meaning we were without internet all weekend. I actually sighted my illusive teenage siblings as they were driven from their rooms in search of cell signal. Thankfully, the world has since been righted and functional again. It was sunny and warm for late winter, it's only March *sigh*, so I spent a good chunk of my day outside doing chores, and built a catproof screen door, reinforced to handle Panya's claws and goat-like enthusiasm and snoopiness. I had anchor all of my dragons on the top shelf of my bookcases because he insists on climbing around up there.
What's your favorite season? Mine is actually fall, but I can't wait for it to warm up enough to open all the doors and windows and air out the house, and flowers, all the flowers, I have perennials I'm always happy to welcome back and a few new ones I'm waiting to see if they will survive through the MN winters. For them I imagine MN's zone 3 winters on the gardeners' map is like an apocalypse. XD Right, rambling a bit. 'And Man Grew Proud' is out! If you like post-apocalyptic tales, this one is for you. It was a challenge presented last summer to write a novelette in a week. I almost failed before I started because I avoided the math to figure out a daily word count and fell dangerously short until like the third day when I realized I needed to kick in a higher gear. Renewed dedication and late nights got my entry in just in time, and my Humanity's Descent was picked to join this great selection of tales of survival. |
